As part of our introductory blog series, we asked Sarah a few fun questions about her background and interests:

Q: If you were mayor for the day, what three things would you change about your city?

A: The first thing I would create is more green space. I would love for there to be more trees and parks for people to sit and relax in. The second thing I would do would be to create more opportunity for small startup restaurants that source their food for local farms, in order to foster community and good food! The third thing would probably be to start a community wide wellness project, to keep everyone’s bodies and minds nourished with good things!

Q: When you were little, who was your favorite superhero and why?

A: My favorite “superhero” wasn’t really a superhero- it was Esmerelda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame! I loved her because she was not a princess and had no special powers, but she was bold and strong and did what she thought was right, despite her position as an outcast in Paris.

Q: What is your favorite smell? What memory does it remind you of?

A: My favorite smell is that of fall… fire-smoke and leaves and crisp air. It reminds me of times of family, geese flying overhead, and excitement as some of my favorite holidays come. I love dressing in warm clothes, being with my family and friends, and having cozy evenings by the fire!

Q: What is your idea for de-stressing?

A: To de-stress, I love to do a couple things. I love to go for a long run, I love to listen to music, and I love to cook! It creates something good and is time where I can be present and not worry.

Q: What is a hidden talent that you have?

A: One of my hidden talents is that I can move my nose really fast like a bunny.

Q: If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?

A: If I woke up tomorrow as an animal, I would want to be a horse! I love how they are strong and free in their ability to run far and fast. I also love that they are such feeling creatures, and can sense and react to how you feel without any external sign from you.
