Making Room: Hazardous Materials
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Today’s eco-tip comes from Immanuel member Susan Gregory:
This season, clean out leftover cleaning products, batteries, lightbulbs and other hazardous trash. Do not throw away anything that is toxic, ignitable, corrosive or reactive. We don’t want them in the landfill and they can’t be recycled. A list is on the Fairfax County website but includes aerosol cans, automotive fluids, paint, batteries, bleach, cooking oil, driveway dealers, floor care products, fluorescent lamps (unbroken) or bulbs, herbicides, dyes, moth balls, stains, varnish, weed killer, windshield wiper fluid etc. Instead, take these items to the Fairfax County Solid Waste Management. Go to www.fairfaxcounty.gov for details.
Here’s a prayer for today:
Holy One
Help us to let go
Of things that no longer serve us
Of things that no longer serve you
Of things that no longer serve one another
Let us trust deeply
In your peace that grafts us from the grave in your ongoing
Story of love
Amen
