NEW! “Green Team” at Immanuel!
Do you hear God’s call to care for the earth as central to the practice of your faith? If so, we need YOU to serve on the new “Green Team” at Immanuel!
The team will be led by two youth leaders with adults and children of all ages and stages following their lead. Pastor Katie and Youth Director Liz will both work alongside this earth-stewardship and outreach team to develop ideas and possibilities for projects in the larger NOVA community. Click HERE to sign up!
The team will:
- Meet digitally when project ideas arise on an as-needed basis
- Brainstorm ways that we can take good care of the earth in our local area (ex: volunteering to create wildflower meadows wherever our city might allow us, partnering to provide trail clearing, volunteering to plant native trees and plants where welcome, etc.)
- Reach out to Green Teams with our interfaith networks to collaborate on projects important to them (Temple Rodef Shalom, McLean Islamic Center, etc.)
- Discern what local earth-care opportunities are important to advertise to the Immanuel community (ex: solar panel co-op opportunities for home projects, Faith Alliance educational events, etc.)
- Work together toward becoming an official “Earth Care Congregation” of the PC(USA) (Click here to learn more!)
