“First Century Identity Politics in Matthew and Luke” Sundays, May 20, 27 and June 3 at 9:00 a.m.

Categories: Events,Uncategorized

Is Christianity a Jewish or a Gentile movement? This was the central question of the first century of the faith. This three-part series will explore how two early Christian writers, the authors of Matthew and Luke, responded to this question. By examining the similarities and contrasts between parallel passages, modern readers can better understand the identity politics at play in the formation of the gospels. Please join us for an introduction to comparative methods of Biblical study as we critically examine select passages in order to shed light upon the convergence of political and theological anxieties and arguments embedded in these narratives. This class will be led by Dr. Scott Strednak Singer.
